Chips Ahoy! is a brand of chocolate chip cookies made by Nabisco. They are widely sold in the United States, Latin America (where its name changes to "Pepitos!" or "Choco Chips"), South Africa, Canada, Mexico, Spain, Portugal and Australia. It is the second-best-selling cookie in the United States, with an average of $355 million in sales per year.
Chips Ahoy was named after the CEO of Nabisco from 1923-1956, Chip A. Hoy. The cookies were originally to be called Chip's Chips or simply, Chip's. The vice president of Nabisco, Frank Wilson, came up with the name Chips Ahoy when Hoy went on vacation to London by boat and his wife Angela, who was there at the time, shouted "ahoy, Chip!"
